Veo 3.1 vs Kling 3.0: Which AI Video Model Should You Use in 2026?

Google's Veo 3.1 and Kuaishou's Kling 3.0 are the two AI video models people compare most. Here is how they differ on clip length, resolution, audio, image-to-video and price per clip, and which to pick for each kind of shot.

By Opeek5 min read

Short answer: pick Veo 3.1 for short, realistic shots with synchronized sound, and when you want the cheapest good clip (Veo 3.1 Lite is 26 coins for 8 seconds). Pick Kling 3.0 when the shot needs to run longer than 8 seconds (up to 15), in square format, or with controlled character motion. Both make video from text or from a starting image, both can add native audio, and both go up to 4K. On inker you can use every tier of both from one coin balance, with no subscription.

Veo is the cheaper way to get a finished, sound-on clip. Kling costs more per clip but gives you up to 15 seconds in a single generation, where Veo stops at 8.

When Veo 3.1 is the better choice

  • Talking scenes and ads with sound. Google built Veo 3.1 to generate dialogue, sound effects and ambience in the same pass as the picture (Google DeepMind). Write the line of dialogue in quotes in your prompt.
  • Lots of drafts on a budget. Veo 3.1 Lite gives you an 8-second clip with audio for 26 coins. Find the idea there, then re-run the winning prompt on Fast or Quality.
  • Repeatable results. Veo takes a seed, so you can change one word of a prompt and keep everything else the same. Kling does not expose a seed.
  • Vertical 4K. Veo 3.1 Fast and Quality render 4K in both 16:9 and 9:16.
  • Stitching shots together. Give Veo a start frame and an end frame and it animates between them. That's handy for matching cuts.

When Kling 3.0 is the better choice

  • Shots longer than 8 seconds. Kling 3.0 renders 3 to 15 seconds in one generation. That's long enough for a full camera move or a product turntable without stitching.
  • Camera direction. Kling responds well to cinematography language ("slow push-in", "rising reveal", "orbit around"). In our side-by-side test, Kling 3.0 Turbo followed a "rising to reveal a lake" direction exactly.
  • Square video. Kling renders 1:1, which Veo does not.
  • Characters that stay consistent. Kling 3.0 Omni Pro is tuned for expressive, consistent characters, and costs the same as Turbo by default.
  • Native 4K at full length. Kling 3.0 4K renders every frame in 4K for up to 15 seconds.

Here is a real, unedited Kling 3.0 Turbo clip from our earlier test (unmute for its native audio):

Which one should you use?

  • Social clip with voice, under 8 seconds: Veo 3.1 Fast.
  • Quick idea testing: Veo 3.1 Lite.
  • Hero shot for an ad or film, 8 seconds: Veo 3.1 Quality.
  • 10–15 second camera move or product spin: Kling 3.0 Pro.
  • Character performance across a longer shot: Kling 3.0 Omni Pro.
  • 4K delivery longer than 8 seconds: Kling 3.0 4K.
  • Square (1:1) video for feeds: any Kling 3.0 tier.

You don't have to commit to one. A good workflow is to draft on Veo 3.1 Lite, keep the best prompt, and render the final take on whichever model fits the shot. Or make a still first with Nano Banana and animate it with either model.
